Journalism in Action

At Seahaven Academy, we run fortnightly workshops with eager pupils that have a curious and investigative mind.

We explore current issues in the media, both with a local and international interest, and use creative activities to analyse, synthesise and respond to these events within the pupils’ own work. They write collaboratively to produce their own journalistic pieces in dialogue with the current world.

We also make use of a genuine Victorian printing press held at the University of Sussex. Pupils have the opportunity to print their own work using the same processes of Victorian society; they thus experience the drawbacks, excitement and creativity induced by these old-fashioned modes of print.

In this club, pupils learn how to make their own print in time.
